Last week I was in Milan again, this time with my partner in crime Ilenia, to see one of my favorite bands:
Boyce Avenue.
Boyce Avenue.
We arrived in the city in the early afternoon but we got stuck in traffic for ages and ended up being at our hotel almost 2 hours later.
Being Italian, I know how bad events are organized in my country all the time, so I bought myself the VIP pass to be able to meet the band before the show and be front row for sure.
I met the guys a few times in London before, back in September last year but I was a bit nervous to meet them by myself. The meet & greet was very quick and everything went smoothly. Fabian and Alejandro surprisingly recognized me, that was awesome but totally unexpected.
As I thought, the organization sucked. They made us wait outside in the cold for a good hour before the doors opened up and when it was time to get into the venue, the box office was still waiting to receive the tickets. I had the VIP pass but Ilenia didn't, so I had to wait to get our tickets, run outside to give her one and run back inside to get my place front row.
Luckily I managed to keep a spot also for her and her sister and the three of us were happy after all.
(as you can see from our smiley faces in the pic down below :D)
The first opening act was Hannah Trigwell.
I fell in love with her voice the first time I saw her, back in 2013, opening for Alex Goot in London. This girl is just unbelievably talented and you should check her songs and covers out to see / hear that by yourself. You won't regret it, I promise.
Second act was Nick Howard.
I heard lots of great things about him from a friend who worked with him before but this was the first time I was seeing him live and what can I say? What a lad! He's super great (and he has a song called 'Super Love' :P) funny and entertaining.
Everybody loved him by the end of his set.
Last but not least, at 10pm it was finally time to be Boyced.
They started the gig with a brand new song called "Speed Limit". To be honest I was a bit skeptical about some of their new songs from their upcoming EP but they all turned out to sound amazing live. I guess I just never imagined to have Boyce Avenue songs to rave to on a dance floor.

The rest of the show was incredible as usual, they performed some of their most famous originals from their album "All We Have Left" and some covers.
The concert ended with one of my all time favorite songs of them, 'Every Breathe', and the crowd went crazy for it.
Useless to say, me and Ilenia lost our voices while singing and dancing like crazy for the whole gig.

After the show we met Nick Howard and we also had a little chat with the lovely Hannah Trigwell & her manager Natasha. Those ladies have the best accents and they make me want to move to Northern England even more!
Poor Ilenia's sister didn't know the night wasn't about to come to an end.. yet.
We wanted to meet the Manzano brothers and thank them for the amazing show so we started waiting outside the venue with more or less 30 other people.
We waited quiet a while but in the end all of them came out to talk and take pictures with us.
These three guys are some of the most talented and down to earth people I have ever met.
They worked so hard to be where they are now, starting off with simple covers on youtube, and they absolutely deserve all the success they gained in the last few years, in my opinion.

A special thanks has to go to Fabian, he's the sweetest and I admire a lot his design work and obsession with all things art related. (Did you know he has his own clothing line called These Quiet Sounds? You can spot one of his 'quiet' tees in my hands in the first picture of the crowd.)
This concert was the best early birthday present ever, but I'm sure my belated one will be even better because a friend of mine is taking me to see Boyce Avenue again, in Brighton, next week. Seeing my favorite band in one my favorite places? I'm sold.
FYI my b-day is on the 28th, feel free to buy me more concert tickets or a french bulldog ;) Just kidding!
Ash x
